Christmas Review, part 3
And so it continues, a review of the craftiness that was December:
for the Wincks
With help from Ryder and the GT machine shop, a slice of an old dead tree turned into a clock. When our collective parents were in town this fall, our dads cut down a dead tree from my front yard. Noticing the cool pattern in the trunk, they sliced off several one-inch slices of the trunk. The slices have been sitting on my desk ever since. This slice was milled (planed? I don't know the technical term) to be flat, with a niche for the clock mechanism in the back. Stained and finished, it now hangs in the Winck kitchen.

Christmas Review, part 2
The second of my crafty Christmas creations is a set of lovely kitchen towels for my Mama.
True, they don't get snow very often in Houston... but they do get a lot of sun!
Just making sure they work
Did you know that if you buy sets (2-4 buttons) of matched buttons at a fabric store, it costs $1-$2 per set? I figured there had to be a better way, especially since I didn't care too much about matching. And sure enough, there are several web sites that will sell you a pound (or more) of assorted buttons for just a few bucks! (plus shipping and handling) And thus, I'm now the proud owner of a few hundred various buttons. Now to figure out more projects that could use buttons...

Christmas Review, part 1
I'm sorry, dear people who read my blog (all two of you). You've been sorely neglected. To make up for it, I present a
Christmas Review, in parts!
First up, a set of (homemade) Christmas ornaments for my Dad:
Ingredients: styrofoam ball, Christmassy fabrics, ribbon
Dad proudly models his new ornaments. I'm sure they'll look equally nice on our tree.
